Belated Happy New Year
Only one day late, but still heartfelt
Our very best wishes for 2026 to everyone. We are praying for a year when we will see a huge decline in violence, fascism and hate. Couple that with more positive prayers for more love, more inclusion, more action on the Climate Emergency.
This year is going to be a race to get the boat finished enough to launch and start the sailing part of Sustainable Sailing. I suggested we might do a video about what we have left to do, but Jane thought it would depress us too much - Oop's ;-)
Still, the year has begun positively for us. Dave has started Couch to 5K (for the nth time). Jane caused a significant boost to our YouTube videos by doing some magic with the tags and descriptions and whatnot.
Yesterday was showery. Today we have had several very heavy hailstorms and it has been cold. However, we have made some good progress, still on the electric motor mounts (which have moved forward significantly).
Today I dry fitted the extensions to the original engine bearers. This allowed us to mark the position that the supports (lengths of stainless steel right angle) need to go on the old bearers. Tomorrow, we can lift the motor out and get these fitted. That should be the end of that work for the moment, and my attention can switch to the box for the electric motor batteries (planning is going well).

Despite the weather, Jane managed to do most of the washing today.
Over the cold weather, our ancient Refleks diesel stove has been working brilliantly, we have it on 24 hours a day. The hot water heating for the aft cabin where we sleep has been so successful that I've ordered the bits to extend it and have a radiator in the saloon and another in the forward heads (toilet) compartment.
Time for dinner now (includes Kimchi for the first time).
Love Dave and Jane
